Sifnos

Sifnos is an island municipality in the Cyclades island group in Greece. It has a typical Cycladic atmosphere, including whitewashed houses and churches, countless pigeon houses, breathtaking natural landscapes, and of course amazing beaches! The main town, near the center, known as Apollonia, is home of the island’s folklore museum and library. The town’s name is thought to come from an ancient temple of Apollo.

Due to its booming culinary scene, Sifnos is considered the most delicious of the Greek islands. The moment you disembark from Athens to Sifnos, you will feel like you have entered a whole new world! The atmosphere on the island is very calm, with the aroma of almonds and oranges in the air, which will seduce you. The whitewashed small villages, the pebbles covered with colorful flowers, the alleys, the luxurious Sifnos hotels, and the charming beaches all exude endless charm!

Sifnos has typical Cycladic architecture, dotted with cubic whitewashed houses, more than 300 (!) beautiful churches, pigeon houses and small pottery shops. The island exudes a fairy tale charm, which makes people feel like they are in a world far away from the mainland!

One of the best activities on Sifnos, especially if you want to experience the essence of the island, is to visit the quaint village of Sifnos. Castro, Altmonas and Apollonia, the capital of the island is an absolute must!
